Meadowsweet, Oak and Broom is a solo movement performance by Jacqueline McCormick, inquiring into transformation, both physical and psychological. It parallels the tale of Blodeuwedd, a woman made from flowers and turned into an owl, from the Welsh chronicles of mythology, The Mabinogion. The story helped to inspire Alan Garner’s classic novel, The Owl Service, first published in August 1967, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017.

Jacqueline will be working with photographer and film-maker David Heke, to create a video dance piece, based on site specific performance work. The video will be filmed within the original landscape of Blodeuwedd, Lleu and Gronw in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.

The Project is funded by Arts Council England and will tour as a dance performance and installation video with the Petals and Claws exhibition throughout 2017-18.
